Pekka Mooar, MD
Professor
Dr. Mooar is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Director of the Office of Clinical Trials and Research Support. He has had a career-long interest in disorders of the knee from adolescence to geriatrics. He has pioneered the use of concentrated platelet applications in orthopaedic surgery and is recognized as an international expert in the field.
Dr. Mooar is the team orthopaedic surgeon for the Philadelphia Phantoms and assistant surgeon for the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey teams. He has been a Physician in Residence at the US Olympic Training Center and served as Medical Director for the US National Figure Skating Championship and Women’s National Ice Hockey Championships. He has been team physician for St. Joseph Prep HS for 23 years and has been team physician for Philadelphia University, and numerous local High Schools. He served as the Medical Director for Philadelphia Special Olympics and on the state board of Pennsylvania Special Olympics receiving the Brighter Futures Award for his work. He has been named a Philadelphia Top Doc and Delaware Valley Top Doc.
